Outrider Set to Unveil "American Adobo"

(indieWIRE/11.12.01) -- "American Adobo," a new film
directed by Laurice Guillen and written & produced by
distribution exec Vincent Nebrida, has been acquired by
Outrider Pictures and will be released theatrically early next
year.

Described in a prepared statement as "a comedy about five
Filipino-American friends, their life choices and their
destinies," the movie will open in the Philippines on January
16, 2002 and one-week later in New York, San Francisco
and Los Angeles. The film had its US Premiere in
September at the San Diego Asian Film Festival. Among the
movie's executive producers is Kevin Foxe, an executive
producer of "The Blair Witch Project."

Nebrida's career as an executive took him to Fine Line,
Cinecom and Stratosphere. "After working behind the
scenes for so many years distributing other people's films,
it's a tremendous feeling of achievement to complete and
see my own work up on the screen. There are so many fine
films produced in the Philippines that never get an
opportunity to be viewed by American audiences. I'm thrilled
'American Adobo' will have that chance," commented
Nebrida, a Philippine cinema historian, in a prepared
statement.

Outtrider, launched at Sundance this year as SearchParty
Films, was formed by Larry Estes and Scott Rosenfelt.
Richard Abramowitz is on board overseeing the company's
marketing and distribution. [Eugene Hernandez]
